Embedded Software Engineer Full time

Company & General Information:

  • beadedstream’s mission: Enable anyone to collect data easily from anywhere in the world.
  • We are hiring a full-time or part-time in-person/hybrid position starting in 2024 or 2025 to augment our remote embedded development team.
  • You’ll be developing and maintaining embedded firmware for our custom data logger, protocol bridge device, and factory applications.
  • $85k-$150k Salary depending on experience.

Resposibilities:

  • Develop firmware code for new products & review code of others.
  • Maintain and support firmware code for existing products.
  • Act as a liaison for remote developers & contractors.
  • Support the Product Manager with technical information and documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform routine testing of systems.
  • Assist in the development of requirements for next-generation of product/s.
  • Meet with customers to understand their problems and goals.
  • Work in-person in Anchorage at least 2 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • C, C++, and Python languages.
  • Reading schematics & datasheets for digital electronics.
  • ARM-core microcontrollers.
  • SPI, I2C, Modbus, & UART interfaces.
  • Serial EEPROM (FLASH) interfaces.
  • Basic lab equipment i.e: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, & soldering iron.
  • RTOS: multi-threading, priorities, preemption, synchronization, etc.
  • Version control: GitHub andGitHub Actions
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and disciplined in work.
  • Able to work independently.

Full-time Production Technician Fulltime

Synopsis:

  • beadedstream  enables the collection, transport, and analysis of environmental data easily. Our technology is proven in the Arctic and deployed worldwide. We build temperature sensors embedded into cables, satellite data loggers, and real-time online data insights.
  • Full-time position in Anchorage, Alaska starting April 2024.
  • Pay is $22-$26/hr based on experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Operate in a safe & efficient manner at all times. Identify, assess, and mitigate safety risks. Hold all team members accountable for safety.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and Production Technicians to deliver high-quality products on-time.
  • This is a hands-on position building our manufacturing capability producing sensors and data logger systems.
  • Measure & improve quality at all levels of the manufacturing process.
  • Consistently and accurately document production steps, part serial numbers, work-flow changes, and other information as required on engineering documents and work orders.
  • Design & fabricate jigs and tools for Production and Research & Development.
  • Maintain & improve shop organization including parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform system & subsystem testing, troubleshooting, calibration, & certification.
  • Directly work with the Data Logger Assembly and Innovation team.

Qualifications that are Preferred:

  • A passion for manufacturing, innovation, and technology.
  • 3-5+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical assembly such as soldering.
  • Experience with geotechnical instrumentation or Internet of Things (IOT).
  • Meet our standards for physical demands: Frequently and repetitively lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs. Frequently and repetitively bend, lift and reach.
  • Ability to do outdoor work in cold weather.
  • Ability to travel for customer installations.
  • Must be able to communicate in English both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, and Slides.
  • Familiar with lean, agile, or six-sigma manufacturing processes.
  • Problem solving using tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes.
